Home and Family

David lives with his parents and 4 year old sister. He has two pets at home; a cat named Bodie and a fish named Nemo.

Diagnosis

David was diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy when he was 3 years old. DMD is a genetic disorder characterized by progressive muscle degeneration and weakness. DMD is caused by an absence of dystrophin, a protein that helps keep muscle cells intact. Symptom onset is in early childhood, usually between ages 3 and 5. The disease primarily affects boys, but in rare cases it can affect girls.

School

David is in 1st grade and the classes he enjoys the most are recess, music, and art.

Interests

David is a very active young boy with many different interests. He enjoys playing with Legos, drawing, playing outdoors, and swimming. David is also a part of the Cub Scouts in the Derry Community

MDA Activities

David and his family participate in many MDA activities. He attends MDA summer camp, golf tournaments, fire fighter events, the Trans NH Bike Ride, the MDA Show of Strength Premiere Party and many more.
