Home and Family

Trent is the son of Michelle and Paul Tomco. He has two brothers and two sisters.

Diagnosis

Trent has Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD). DMD is a genetic disorder characterized by progressive muscle degeneration and weakness. DMD is caused by an absence of dystrophin, a protein that helps keep muscle cells intact. Symptom onset is in early childhood, usually between ages 3 and 5.

School

Trent is in 5th grade in Aiken, SC.

Interests

Trent participates in Bible Study at his local church and attends Boy Scouts. He loves Legos and any kind of computer. He believes the iPad is the greatest invention ever. He has a great memory and loves to put it to work playing games and doing puzzles. Wheel of Fortune is one of his favorites!

MDA Activities

Trent loves attending MDA summer camp and can’t wait to attend camp in 2016. Trent and his family are very active with his local MDA office. He and his family formed a Muscle Walk team in 2014 and raised over $10,000 for MDA. Trent and his mom developed a program at his elementary school called Coins for a Cure that raised over $3,000 for MDA. He attends Shamrock Kick-Offs and other various MDA meetings and events throughout the year.
