Aiden Atkins, Age 10

Aiden is the son of Alan and Michelle. Aiden is outgoing and loves to be the center of attention. He is very well-spoken and converses easily with all who have the opportunity to meet him.
Aiden was diagnosed with Congenital Muscular Dystrophy (CMD) in 2008. CMD results in overall muscle weakness with possible joint stiffness or looseness. Depending on the type, CMD may involve spinal curvature, respiratory insufficiency, intellectual disabilities, learning disabilities, eye defects or seizures.
Aiden is currently in the 4th grade at a local elementary school.
Aiden’s hobbies and interests include playing the drums, video games, and he loves all things sports. His favorite subjects in school are science and social studies. He is also a member of his school’s book club.
In 2013 and 2014, Aiden was a local goodwill ambassador. Aiden has attended a number of events on behalf of MDA to share his story, explain why he loves MDA, and to thank sponsors for their support. Aiden has attended MDA Summer Camp at the Center for Courageous Kids in Scottsville, Kentucky, for the last two years.
