Joey is the son of Stephanie and Kenny Killingsworth. He also has one little brother.

Diagnosis

Joey was diagnosed with Mitochondria Myopathy when he was 9 years old. This is a type of muscular dystrophy which affects a specific part of the cells in the body. Specifically, mitochondrial diseases affect the mitochondria — tiny energy factories found inside almost all our cells.

School

Joey is a freshman in high school where he is a member of the school choir. He also enjoys gym and science.

Interests

Joey loves to stay active and be involved. He is a member of his church youth group, loves to go bowling and build intricate models with Legos.

MDA Activities

Joey and his family love to participate in MDA events including Lock-Ups, Muscle Walks and several Fill-the-Boot events.

Joey also loves attending MDA Summer Camp! He really enjoys helping the new campers feel at home and getting them involved in activities. His favorite activities are swimming and horseback riding.
