At MDA, we believe in the power of research and the importance of building relationships among families, clinicians, and the scientists making discoveries to advance treatments and therapies. We invite individuals living with myotonic dystrophy (DM), as well as caregivers and loved ones, to attend the MDA Engage Myotonic Dystrophy Symposium taking place Nov. 9 in Rochester, NY, at the Hilton Garden Inn.
We are honored to have Dr. Charles A. Thornton as the event chair. Dr. Thornton is a professor of Neurology and director of the Wellstone Muscular Dystrophy Specialized Research Center at the University of Rochester.
“We are delighted to partner with MDA for this educational event,” Dr. Thornton says. “We look forward to updating people in the myotonic dystrophy community on recent developments in research and care.”
Topics covered during this day-long symposium include a focus on best practices in clinical care, a DM research panel discussion, how to work with care agencies, and what you should know about ABLE accounts. A social gathering for attendees will begin at the conclusion of the symposium and will include refreshments and hors d’oeuvres.
