We believe in the power of community and the importance of building relationships with families going through similar experiences. If you are an individual living with a neuromuscular disease, we invite you and your loved ones to attend our MDA Engage Genetic Testing Webinar. It will broadcast live online on Friday, June 21 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. CT/2 p.m. to 3 p.m. ET.
The Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) alongside Dr. Rabia Malik, a neurologist at Rush University Medical Center, and Richard Dineen, a genetic counselor at Rush University Medical Center, will host this webinar for families to learn more about genetic testing. Topics discussed during this session will include an overview of genetic testing, a review of the genetic testing process, what roles different providers and the family play, and what options are available for covering testing. Participants will hear from an MDA family member about their experience with genetic testing. Questions can be asked through an online chat feature.
As knowledge about neuromuscular disease (NMD) has grown, so have advances in diagnosis and treatments.
“Genetic testing is important for the majority of individuals who attend an MDA clinic,” said Richard Dineen. “Genetic test results will become increasingly important in the future to guide treatment and determine whether someone may be a candidate for a specific therapy.”
This webinar is brought to MDA families in partnership with Sanofi-Genzyme.
