Children and adults with muscular dystrophy, ALS and related diseases that limit muscle strength and mobility are at increased risk of serious and possibly life-threatening complications from the flu, so it’s important that everyone stays informed and takes steps to protect themselves and their families.
In addition to visiting MDA’s Flu Season Support resource center, we invite you to join us Sept. 14 for a one-hour webinar (12 p.m. PDT/MST (Arizona); 1 p.m. MDT; 2 p.m. CDT; 3 p.m. EDT) that will explore vital flu shot resources from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and provide helpful tips and recommendations for meeting your respiratory equipment needs.
The webinar is brought to you in partnership with VieMed, a respiratory disease company that uses in-home respiratory therapists and the latest noninvasive therapy technology. Lynette Guirdry, VieMed’s neuromuscular liaison and patient educator, will lead the presentation, which will focus on the following topics:
- 2017-2018 flu shot resources
- Respiratory equipment options
- Tips for making the right choice
- Processes for obtaining respiratory equipment
- Navigating challenges with insurance companies
