Dillon & Tyler Peters, Ages 11 & 9
Oklahoma
Home and Family
Dillon and Tyler live with their Mom, Melissa and stepdad Jason.
Diagnosis
Dillon and Tyler have Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is a genetic disorder characterized by progressive muscle degeneration and weakness. DMD is caused by an absence of dystrophin, a protein that helps keep muscle cells intact. Symptom onset is in early childhood, usually between ages 3 and 5. The disease primarily affects boys, but in rare cases it can affect girls.
Interests
Dillon loves to play his X-Box One; Tyler loves to listen to music. Both boys enjoy reading books, watching movies and playing Minecraft on their Kindle. The boys are huge baseball fans, especially the Kansas City Royals. During football season they can be found wearing red and watching the Cornhuskers! Go Big Red!
MDA Activities
The Peters boys are regular summer camp attendees and wouldn’t miss that week for anything! We can always count on them to visit and thank our local retailers during a Shamrock or mobile campaign. Team Dillon and Tyler was one of our top fifteen fundraising teams at the 2014 Muscle Walk. They plan to be back again this year!
As the 2015 Nebraska State Goodwill Ambassadors Dillon & Tyler will be attending many exciting MDA events. You will find them drawing the winning raffle tickets at our 17th Annual Gala, and riding in side cars on a Harley at our 12th Annual Day of the HOG poker run!
