Recap: Our 2016 Becker Muscular Dystrophy Conference

BMD Conf HPOn Sept. 24, we held our annual Becker Muscular Dystrophy (BMD) Conference aimed at connecting families with researchers and other individuals living with BMD. The conference took place in Washington, D.C., and featured a wide range of topics that included understanding the root causes of BMD, how genetics and other factors contribute to the variation in how the disease progresses, therapies currently in development, and open discussion about living with BMD.

Leading researchers, clinicians and drug developers shared their insights in presentations and panel discussions.

We’d like to thank all of the speakers who dedicated their day to the conference, including:

  • Eric Hoffman, Ph.D. (this year’s conference chair)
  • Kathryn Wagner, M.D., Ph.D.
  • Tom Crawford, M.D.
  • Terry Partridge, Ph.D.
  • Justin Fallon, Ph.D.
  • Stanley Froehner, Ph.D.
  • Jon Tinsely, Ph.D.
  • Kelly Gwathmey, M.D.
  • Mathula Thangarajh, M.D.

We were also fortunate to have a panel of individuals living with BMD who generously shared their personal experiences and thoughts with the group. And, perhaps most importantly, we were pleased to welcome many families — from as far away as California — who joined us and participated in the conversation.
